I don't believe people are just lazy. There is almost always a reason people are not carrying out the task they wish they could do.
Maybe that task is going to the gym, maybe it's getting rid of clutter, or maybe its diving in deep with therapy.
Either way that avoidance is serving a purpose to protect you from some fear or belief linked to the task.
In EMDR for avoidance we will look at emotions and/or body sensations that come up when you think about following through. We will then process that out using EMDR. We will then practice following through with the task.
If more trauma and stress needs to be processed we will process it as it comes up or after this is accomplished, which ever makes sense to both of us.
