Gaining Freedom, building well-being, and thriving in a stressful work environmeny
After many years of being a trauma therapist, it makes sense to me that the same basic concepts of stress responses also apply to burn out, compassion fatigue and vicarious trauma. Allison has spoken to groups from 3-400 about understanding their nervous system to gain resilience and heal from stressful work environments. She is able to read the research about what is happening in the field of veterinary medicine and apply it to practice and tangible skills that people can use in moments within their work day so that they can manage emotions more effectively. By controlling emotions, people become more skilled, more confident, more efficient, and enjoy their job more.

I've had the opportunity to work with Allison more than once, and I have nothing but good things to say. Her talks reflect her warmth, kindness, and humility, but she also brings a pragmatism that makes the ideas she presents feel as though they can be realistically and practically applied in real world settings. The positive experience I've had was also reflected in listener engagement, in which Allison was able to reach a large number of audience members, facilitating a helpful and positive discussion on important mental health issues.
